DUSHANBE, October 4, 2010, Asia-Plus — More than 22 kilograms of narcotics were seized in Gorno Badakhshan over the last weekends, according to the Drug Control Agency (DCA) press service.
The 44-year-old resident of the region D.N. was arrested in Khorog on suspicion of having been involved in drug pushing. Two packages containing 558 grams of heroin were confiscated from him.
“During the preliminary investigation, D.N. noted that there is a drug cache near the village of Yomj in Shugnan district,” said the source, “A sack of narcotic drug that was tested positive to hashish weighing 21.878 kilograms was extracted from the hide.”
Criminal proceedings have been instituted against the detained drug pusher and an investigation is under way.
