KONIBODOM, October 13, 2010, Asia-Plus  — Over the first nine months of this year, farming units in Konibodom, Sughd province have produced a total of some 118 million worth of agricultural goods, according to the Konibodom agriculture department.

In January-September, local farms have produced 6,410 tons of raw cotton, which is 2.3 times more than in the same period last year; meat – 1,285 tons or 101.3 percent, eggs – 1.948 million pieces or 105.9 percent, vegetables – 15,376 tons or 104.8 percent, and fruits – 9,981 tons or 116.6 percent more compared to January-September 2009, the source said.

Over the report period, Konibodom has failed to reach the January-September 2009 production level in cocoon production.  Local farmers have produced only 66 tons of cocoons over the same nine-month period.  Compared to January-September 2009, the index of the volume of production of cocoons amounted to only 44.3 percent.

Compared to January-September 2009, grain productions have decreased by 139 tons.  Specialists attribute the fall in grain productions to allotment of 343 hectares of farmland in the district to cotton cultivation.
