DUSHANBE, October 20, 2010, Asia-Plus  — The State Youth Theater named after Mahmoudjon Vohidov has won Golden Lion, the main prize at the 10th International Theatrical Festival, Golden Lion, in Lviv, Ukraine, according to the Ministry of Culture (MoC).

The source at a MoC says the Mahmoudjon Vohidov Theater participated at the festival along with theaters from Moldova, Poland, Hungary, Austria, Russia, Scotland (the United Kingdom), the United States and Ukraine.

The festival was held from October 1 to October 7.  

Tajik theater has shown the performance “Chashmoni Barodari Qiyomati” (Eyes of Sworn Brother) based on a novel by Stefan Zweig.  Staged by Mirzovatan Mirov, the performance has been the leader in theatrical seasons of the State Youth Theater over the past two years, the source said.

The International Theatrical Festival, Golden Lion, is held in Lviv biannually starting in 1989, and it is a member of the European theater forum IETM (Informal European Theatre Meeting) and association of international festivals IFEA (International Festival and Events Association).
