DUSHANBE, October 27, 2010, Asia-Plus – Daler Amonov, the founder and director general of the Dushanbe independent radio station, Vatan, faces fraud charges.

According to the Agency for State Financial Control and Combating Corruption, Mr. Amonov has taken more than 4 million somoni from a number of legal and physical entities for various projects and has not given them back.

It cannot be ruled out that funds have been taken also for promotion of the Arzon Mobile company that was also founded by Daler Amonov, the source said.

Investigation is under way.

The radio station, Vatan, is the first round-the-clock FM radio in Dushanbe.  The radio station went on the air in Dushanbe on May 7, 2003.

The limited liability company Arzon Mobile is the leader of Tajikistan’s market of dealer services.  The company has more than 230 its own and sub-dealer outlets across Tajikistan.  Arzon Mobile is the largest partner of the cellular operators in Tajikistan and the only partner of Nokia in Tajikistan.
