DUSHANBE, September 7, 2011, Asia-Plus  — A survey on the cellular communications market within the CIS area, released by ComNews Research on September 6, notes that over the past three years, the highest user base growth rate within the CIS area has been reported in Uzbekistan, Armenia and Tajikistan – 69.3, 65.4 and 61.7 percent respectively.

Only Ukraine’s cellular communications market has shown the negative dynamic over the report period — – 2.4 percent.  In Russia, Kazakhstan, and Belarus the user base growth rates have been inconsiderable as compared to other CIS member nations – 10.6, 32.5 and 27.1 percent respectively.

As of the end of 201, the largest number of cellular communications users was reported in Russia and the smallest number of cellular communications users was reported in Moldova.

Over the past three years, the penetration of cellular communications service in seven of twelve CIS member nations has reached 90 percent that suggests full cellular communications service coverage to adults in these countries.  In Tajikistan and Moldova, the penetration of cellular communications service has reached 88.6 and 86.4 percent respectively.

According to the survey, the highest growth in terms of cellular communications service receipts has been reported in Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan – 130, 30 and 26 percent respectively.

The most even distribution of users between mobile providers has been reported in Russia and Tajikistan.  In these countries, leader accounts for not more than 35 percent of users of mobile telecommunications services in the country.

Six mobile providers now operate in Tajikistan: MegaFon-Tajikistan; Babilon-M; Tcell; Tacom (offers cellular communications services in Tajikistan under the Beeline brand; TK-mobile; and Tajik Telecom.  An annual aggregate profit of these six companies is estimated at some 300 million U.S. dollars.
