DUSHANBE, March 2, 2012, Asia-Plus  — Two separate operations carried out by officers from the Drug Control Agency in late February led to the seizure of some 4 kilograms of narcotic drugs, the DCA press center reports.

As a result of the operation carried by drug control officers in the Hamadoni district, Khatlon province, a local resident was detained on suspicion of having been involved in drug trafficking.  Five packages of narcotic drug that tested positive to hashish weighing some three kilograms were confiscated from him.

Another alleged drug pusher was detained in the Murgab district, Gorno Badakhshan.  A package containing some on kilogram of heroin was confiscated from him.

Criminal proceedings have been instituted against both alleged drug pushers and an investigation is under way, the source said.
