KULOB, March 3, 2012, Asia-Plus — Electricity rationing has been tightened in the southern city of Kulob. Electricity rationing has even affected a number of municipal life support facilities, administrative buildings, and financial institutions.
Since March 2, the majority of residential buildings in Kulob have had electricity for not more than three hours per day.
An official source at the municipal power supply network says Barqi Tojik power holding has tightened electricity rationing in Kulob following overexpenditure of electric power in January-February of this year. It turns out now that in January-February, residential buildings in Kulob had 16 hours of electricity per day without authorization of Barqi Tojik.
Meanwhile, the rate of the collection of funds from the public and enterprises for electricity consumption is very low in the city – only 33 percent.
“The tightened electricity rationing will remain intact until March 8,” the source said.
