DUSHANBE, March 14, 2012, Asia-Plus  — Measures to mitigate impact of recent heavy snowfalls on the agricultural production and protect the population and the economy of country against avalanches and floods were the focus of an extraordinary meeting of the government that was held by President Emomali Rahmon Tuesday evening.

The presidential press service reports that Murodali Alimardon, Deputy Prime Minister in charge of agriculture, Qosim Qosimov, Minister of Agriculture, and a number of other relevant officials reported on the current situation in the agrarian sector.

They, in particular, noted that the incessant winter and heavy snowfalls have seriously impacted the country’s economy, including agricultural production.  Many bridges and roads have been damaged and serious damage has been caused to the country’s livestock sector.

Speaking at the meeting, Emomali Rahmon ordered to prepare detailed report on the situation in the livestock sector until April 1, the source said.
