DUSHANBE, July 19, 2012, Asia-Plus — The findings of the audit conducted by international audit company, Deloitte & Touche, on Tajik Air (Tajik national air carrier) will be released within the next few days, Ismoil Ghafforov, Tajik Air director for commerce and international cooperation, announced t a news conference in Dushanbe on July 19.
An agreement on conducting audit on Tajik Air was concluded with Deloitte & Touche early this year and it conducted the audit on the Tajik national air carrier for the period from 2009 to 2011.
Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu Limited, commonly referred to as Deloitte, is one of the Big Four professional services firms along with PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), Ernst & Young, and KPMG.
Deloitte is the second largest professional services network in the world by revenue and has 182,000 employees in more than 150 countries providing audit, tax, consulting, enterprise risk and financial advisory services.
Ghafforov also noted that Tajik Air was currently considering its opportunities to renew its fleet through acquiring Boeings.
Tajik Air (Tajikistan Airlines) is the national airline of Tajikistan. The airline has its main hub at the Dushanbe airport, and it retains a secondary focus point at the Khujand airport.
The company started operations on September 3, 1924 as Tajik Aviation. Its first route was Bukhara to Dushanbe, served by Junkers F.13 aircraft. It is the sixth oldest airline still in operation.
Until 2008, Tajik Air had an absolute monopoly in Tajikistan’s air transport, owning all planes, airports, and airport and flight services. As a result of restructuring, Tajik Air was split up into several separate companies.
The Tajik Air fleet now includes 36 aircraft and only 12 of them are operated. The remaining 24 aircraft have been put into long term storage; among them are TU-134 and Yak-40.
The fleet of Tajik Air consists of the following aircraft: one Boeing 757-200; one Boeing 737-500; one Boeing 737-300; one TU-154M; two AN-28s; one AN-26; one MA-60 and three helicopters Mi-8MTV.
