DUSHANBE, October 2, 2012, Asia-Plus  — Press centers of public agencies plan to create their professional community, the National Association of Independent Media of Tajikistan (Nansmit) reports.

Such a decision was reportedly made at a training seminar on cooperation of press centers of public agencies with media that took place in Dushanbe at the end of last week.

The seminar was organized by Nansmit in cooperation with the Tajik MFA information department under support of International Media Support.

International Media Support (IMS) is an international NGO working to support local media in countries affected by armed conflict, human insecurity and political transition.  In more than 40 countries across the world IMS helps to strengthen professional journalism and ensure that media are able to operate under challenging circumstances.

An initiative group consisting of representatives of the MFA information department and press centers of the ministries of education and health, the main border guards department within the state committee for national security, and the committee for family and women’s affairs will deal with resolving organizational issues regarding convocation of the founding conference.

The professional community of employees of the public agency press centers is set up for the purpose of exchanging and generalizing experience, implementing educational programs and raising qualification of spokespersons, and working out the communication strategy of work with media in order to ensure an extended access to the sources of the official information, Tajik media watchdog noted.
