DUSHANBE, February 26, 2013, Asia-Plus — The number of members of the ruling People’s Democratic Party has reportedly reached 200,000.

The party-membership card numbered 200,000 has been presented to Ms. Dilafrouz Kamolova in the Rasht district.

Founded in 1993, the People’s Democratic Party is the largest political party in Tajikistan, boasting 200,000 registered members. President Emomali Rahmon is chairman of the party. The PDP now controls some 65 percent of the seats in parliament (45 of 63 seats).
