DUSHANBE April 9, 2013, Asia-Plus — Some Tajik experts consider that a new political party, Tojikistoni Nav (New Tajikistan), being formed in Tajikistan, may pose serious competition for eight political parties functioning in the country.
Commenting on appearance of a new political party in Tajikistan, political scientist Parviz Mullojonov said, “I still find difficulty in saying what the new political party is being formed for, because it has not yet proved itself.”
“However, proceeding from its declaration one may suppose that that it will deal mainly with economic problems,” said Mullojonov. “Besides, they probably hope to get votes that had previously been given to the Democratic Party, which is currently on the wane. They also may hope for part of votes that had previously been given for the Social-Democratic Party as well as for middle-class voters.”
The expert further added that New Tajikistan would not be opposition party, “but they may be but a step to this.” It depends on how New Tajikistan will prove itself. “If it proves itself a pocket party, it will be similar to the Party of Economic Reforms,” Mullojonov said.
MP Suhrob Sharipov, who is member of the ruling People’s Democratic Party, noted that the political system of Tajikistan was just at the stage of formation. “Dozens of the political parties will emerge and leave the political arena of Tajikistan; this is a normal process,” he said.
According to Sharipov, initiators of New Tajikistan have a public management experience. “Zayd Saidov is successful businessman, serious person with a good potential,” the parliamentarian noted.
Sharipov considers that New Tajikistan could pose serious competition for the Social-Democratic Party and the Part of Economic Reforms.
We will recall that the formation of a new political party – Tojikistoni Nav (New Tajikistan) – was declared in Dushanbe on April 6. Mr. Zayd Saidov, head of the Association of Entrepreneurs and Producers of Tajikistan, who is also head of the Coordinating Council of Business Associations and Public Associations of Tajikistan (CCBAPAT), declared the formation of a new political party – New Tajikistan — on April 6.
Initiated by Zayd Saidov, head of the Association of Entrepreneurs and Producers of Tajikistan also the Coordinating Council of Business Associations and Public Associations of Tajikistan (CCBAPAT), Shavkat Bozorov, first deputy head of CCBAPAT also head of the National Association of Managers and Marketing Specialists of Tajikistan, Abdughani Mamadazimov, head of the Association of Political Scientists of Tajikistan, as well as heads of a number of business associations, the new political party reportedly aims to promote the achievement of economic independence of Tajikistan.
According to its initiators, the Party of New Tajikistan “is a platform for union of ideas, views, personalities and opportunities for national creation.”
The Party of New Tajikistan is reportedly the party of pragmatists, innovators, technocrats and professionals.
We will recall that the Coordinating Council of Business Associations and Public Associations of Tajikistan was established in 2007 in order to support the business associations and improve the private sector in the country and Zayd Saidov was elected to head CCBAPAT last summer.
