DUSHANBE, November 26, 2013, Asia-Plus – Islamic Revival Party (IRP) leader Muhiddin Kabiri and Tajik lawyer and human rights activist Oynihol Bobonazarova, who had been nominated by the IRP to be its candidate for the 2013 presidential election in Tajikistan, attended an international conference entitled “The Islamic Awakening in Central Asia” that took place in the Kyrgyz capital Bishkek on November 25.

The conference reportedly discussed a broad range of issues related to problems facing Muslim societies.

“Speaking at the conference, IRP leader noted that opposition parties did not lose courage after the presidential election that took place in Tajikistan in early November,” an official source at IRP’s headquarters in Dushanbe said.

While in Bishkek, Kabiri and Bobonazarova met with Tajik labor migrants working in Bishkek and held talks with Kyrgyz MP Tursunboy Bakirugly.

During a meeting with Tajik migrant workers, Ms. Bobonazarova reportedly noted that her election campaign had been under pressure from many sides.  “My rival was the entire government with all its agencies,” she said.
