DUSHANBE, November 30, 2013, Asia-Plus — Fifteen officers from custom service agency participated in search techniques of stolen vehicles training, according to the Delegation of the European Union to Tajikistan.
The training was organized by the Border Management Programme in Central Asia (BOMCA) funded by the European Union and implemented by UNDP and the International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD).
Two trainers from the European Union (Austria) provided basic information about different kinds of car theft and search aids. In the course of the training, participants learned how to read a vehicle identification number (VIN) and how to detect stolen vehicles.
The third day of the training was held in check point “Dusti”, which is located in border area with the Republic of Uzbekistan, where the custom service officers were able to apply gained knowledge and skills on identification of stolen vehicles in practice.
The overall objectives of BOMCA are to help increase security in the Central Asian region, to contribute toward the facilitation of legitimate trade and transit, and to reduce the illicit movement of goods and people.
The BOMCA Programme is funded by the European Union and is implemented by UNDP with ICMPD as an implementing partner.
