DUSHANBE, April 9, 2014, Asia-Plus — A jailed hairdresser has had his sentence extended to a 30-year prison term for stabbing a prison warden to death with scissors in the Tajik southern city of Kulob, Radio Liberty’s Tajik Service reports.

Umed Teshayev”s lawyer told RFE/RL”s Tajik Service on April 9 that his client was found guilty of murder and sentenced on April 8.

In February, the 66-year-old warden, Umar Qayumov, asked the prisoner to come to his office to cut his hair.  Teshayev then used his scissors to stab Qayumov once in the head and then at least 16 times in his body.  The official died before reaching hospital.

The 29-year-old prisoner had worked as a hairdresser before being sentenced last year to 17 1/2 years in jail for stabbing a man to death with scissors in his hairdressing salon.
