DUSHANBE, April 24, 2014, Asia-Plus — On Thursday April 24, members of the Majlisi Namoyandagon (Tajikistan’s lower chamber of parliament) unanimously endorsed a draft law on educational books.

Presenting the law, MP Lutfullo Saidmurodov, who is one of authors of this law, noted that some textbooks did not meet requirements of education.  “Therefore, schoolchildren do not learn the educational program fully,” parliamentarian said.

“According to data from the Ministry of Education and Science, the rate of learning education program in 2012-2013 school year was only 69 percent,” Mr. Saidmurodov noted.

He added that adoption of the mentioned law would allow improving quality of textbooks published in the country.

Speaking at the session, the Minister of Education and Science Nouriddin Saidov noted that Tajikistan would start to publish new generation textbooks beginning on 2015.
