DUSHANBE, July 31, 2014, Asia-Plus — Tajik President Emomali Rahmon today morning received visiting foreign ministers of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member nations.

According to the Tajik president’s official website, President Rahmon, in particular, noted that Tajikistan considered the SCO foreign ministers’ meeting as one of the most important events during its chairmanship in the Organization.

The meeting participants reportedly expressed confidence that the SCO foreign ministers’ meeting will determine and specify the main themes of a SCO summit that will take place in Dushanbe in September.

Speaking at the meeting, Tajik president noted that “the SCO has a wide range of unused potentials to turn our region into the region of peace, stability friendship and prosperity.”

On the issues of security, Tajik leader noted that the SCO member nations should share common stance on the issues of addressing modern challenges.

He expressed confidence that a draft strategy for development of the SCO designed for the period until 2015 and other documents promoting expansion of mutually beneficial cooperation within the Organization would be prepared by the upcoming SCO summit.
