DUSHANBE, November 10, 2014, Asia-Plus — The U.S. Embassy in Dushanbe announces that it is accepting applications for the 2015 Ambassadors Fund for Cultural Preservation (AFCP).

AFCP-supported projects include the restoration of ancient and historic buildings, assessment and conservation of rare manuscripts and museum collections, preservation and protection of important archaeological sites, and the documentation of vanishing traditional craft techniques and indigenous languages.

The Ambassadors Fund for Cultural Preservation was created in 2001 to support the preservation of cultural heritage and to demonstrate U.S. respect for other cultures.  Cultural heritage endures as a reminder of the contributions and historical experiences of humanity.  To date, the U.S. Embassy has funded 15 projects in Tajikistan providing over $540,000 in AFCP grants.

An informational session will be held on Wednesday, November 12, at 10:00am at the American Corner Dushanbe, National Library, 4th Floor.  All organizations interested in applying for the program are encouraged to attend.

The deadline for submission of proposals is November 28, 2014. Applications will be reviewed and considered as they arrive.  Early applications are encouraged.
