DUSHANBE, January 5, 2015, Asia-Plus — The head of the Center for Strategic Studies under the President of Tajikistan, Khudoberdi Kholiqnazarov, says Tajikistan should take efforts not to turn into plaything in hands of world powers.

In a report released at a news conference in Dushanbe, Tajik think tank head noted on January 5 that world powers are currently struggling for strengthening their influence in the Central Asian region.

“The cold war between these powers is currently going on in the region and we must take efforts to prevent it from turning into the real armed conflict,” Kholiqnazarov said.

When any destabilizing factors occur in the region, Russians usually accuse the West of that, and vice versa, Tajik think tank director noted, stressing that Tajikistan had gone through civil war and “we must take efforts to prevent the possibility of re-imposing those events on us from outside.”
