DUSHANBE, June 16, 2015, Asia-Plus — The Internet Service Provider (ISP) Telecomm Technology has been fined for posting religious materials on its site.

A court in Dushanbe’s Ismoili Somoni district considered the case.  Judge Ghayrat Sanignzoda presided over the trail.  In a ruling handed down at the court, the judge fined Telecomm Technology 4,800 somoni.

Telecomm Technology reportedly violated Article 474 of Tajikistan’s Administrative Code – non-compliance with the country’s legislation on religious associations.

The Internet service provider has been accused of failing to implement the country’s legislation on the procedure of spread of religious literature and other religious materials.  It is prohibited to spread religious materials without resolution of the state expertise.

Telecomm Technology Director-General Gulmahmad Qayumov noted that they had concluded an agreement with Kyrgyz company, Namba Media, which had posted religious materials on Telecomm Technology’s website.
