DUSHANBE, June 25, 2015, Asia-Plus — Tajikistan’s liquefied gas imports are continuing to increase.

Over the first five months of this year, about 135,000 tons of liquefied gas has been supplied to Tajikistan, which was nearly 23 percent more than in the same period last year, according to the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade.

In May, the country’s liquefied gas imports reportedly amounted to 24,000 tons.

Kazakhstan provides the bulk of Tajikistan’s liquefied gas imports.  In January-May this year, Kazakhstan has accounted for nearly 80 percent of Tajikistan’s liquefied gas imports.

Over the same five-month period, Tajikistan has also imported liquefied gas from Russia and Turkmenistan.

Tajikistan receives deliveries of liquefied gas by road and rail.  

More than 60 percent of the country”s motor vehicles use liquefied gas as fuel.
