DUSHANBE, July 3, 2015, Asia-Plus — State and prospects of further expansion of cooperation between Tajikistan and the European Bank for Reconstruction Development were discussed at a meeting of Nematullo Hikmatullozoda, Minister of Economic development and Trade of Tajikistan with Natalia Khanjenkova, Managing Director for Turkey and Central Asia at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development that took place here on July 2, according to the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade (MEDT) press center.

The two reportedly also discussed the results of socioeconomic development of Tajikistan in 2014 and the main factors of economic growth.

Issues related to implementation of the ERBD-sponsored projects in the country were also among major topics of the meeting.

The EBRD has been present in Tajikistan since 1992.  In Tajikistan, the EBRD focuses on: stabilizing and rebuilding trust in the banking sector; developing private enterprise and agribusiness; improving the availability, reliability and quality of municipal services; and improving the quality of energy supply, regulation and energy efficiency.
