QURGHON TEPPA, July 13, 2015, Asia-Plus — Khatlon prosecutor Nasrullo Mahmoudov told reporters in Qurghon Teppa on July 13 that suicide statistics for the province evokes serious concern.

According to him, 87 cases of suicide have been reported in Khatlon over the first six months o this year, which was eight cases more than in the same period last year.

“Moreover, the number of teen suiciders has increased in the area,” said the prosecutor.  “Of 87 cases of suicide reported in the province in January-June this year, 31 have been committed by teenagers.”

Seven criminal cases for driving to suicide have reportedly been instituted in the province over the report period over and three cases have already moved to a court.

 

“We plan to discuss the suicide problem at the next meeting of the coordinating council of the law enforcement agencies of the province that will take place in the near future,” Mahmoudov added.
