DUSHANBE, July 28, 2015, Asia-Plus – Tajik President Emomali Rahmon today participated in a ceremony of an official opening of the sea buckthorn extraction workshop in the Vanj district, which was the first leg of Rahmon’s working visit to the Gorno Badakhshan Autonomous Region (GBAO).

According to the president’s official website, the presidential reserve fund has provided 167,000 somoni for construction of the workshop.

While in Vanj, Emomali Rahmon also inaugurated the tourism and production complex

Limited Liability Company Rukhom has reportedly spent 1.750 million somoni for construction of this complex.

During a meeting with the population of the Vanj district, Emomali Rahmon extended his condolences to families whose relatives were killed by mudslides on July 20.  The president noted that the process of mitigation of the disaster effects is under his own control and said that new houses for disaster-affected residents of Vanj will be built until November 6 this year.

We will recall that mudslides and floods caused by melting glaciers have killed six people in the Vanj district.
