DUSHANBE, July 28, 2015, Asia-Plus — Tajikistan is reportedly expected to supply 500 million kWh of electricity to Kyrgyzstan during the summer period.

“An agreement on export of Tajik electricity to Kyrgyzstan was signed in early July this year,” Davron Ishoqi, the deputy head of Barqi Tojik (a national integrated power company of Tajikistan), told reporters in Dushanbe on July 28.

According to him, Tajikistan will supply electricity to the neighboring country at the rate of 2.5 cents per one kWh of electricity.

We will recall that in a report released at a news conference in Dushanbe, Tajik Minister of Energy and Water Resources Usmonali Usmonzoda noted on July 22 that Tajikistan has exported more than 546 million kWh of electricity over the first six months of this, which was 9.4 percent more than in the same period last year.

Over the first half of this year, Tajikistan has reportedly exported 504 million kWh of electricity to Afghanistan and little more than 40 million kWh of electricity to Kyrgyzstan.

Usmonzoda noted that Kyrgyzstan is currently receiving up to 1.5 million kWh of electricity from Tajikistan per day.

Over the first six months of this year, Tajikistan has generated more than 8.6 billion kWh of electricity, which was 5.7 percent more than in the same period last year, the minister said.
