DUSHANBE, November 26, 2015, Asia-Plus – Tajik and Kazakh state railway companies have agreed to boost bilateral cooperation.

According to Kazakhstan Temir Zholy (Kazakh national railway company), Kazakhstan Temir Zholy president Askar Mamin this week met in Dushanbe with the head of Rohi Ohani Tojikiston (Tajik Railways), Komil Mirzoali.

The two sides reportedly discussed issues related to renewal of Tajikistan’s rolling stock.  They signed an agreement on delivery of two Kazakhstan-produced locomotives to Tajikistan.  Besides, the Tajik side is also ready to purchase cargo cars from Kazakhstan, the source said.

We will recall that Tajik Railways signed a contract with Kazakh locomotive producer, Kurastyru Zauyty, for six diesel locomotives in Dushanbe in November 2011.  The contract was the first deal for the sale of Kazakh diesel locomotives abroad.

The locomotives are assembled in Kazakhstan under a license of General Electric Company, an American multinational conglomerate corporation.
