DUSHANBE, June 9, 2016, Asia-Plus – Deputies of Tajikistan’s lower house (Majlisi Namoyandagon) of parliament have unanimously voted for endorsement of the draft law on applications of physical and legal entities that will replace the law on citizens’ applications, which was adopted in 1996.

A regular sitting of the second session of the Majlisi Namoyandagon of the fifth convocation, presided over by its head, Shukurjon Zuhurov, was held on June 9.

Presenting the bill, MP Mavlouda Qalandarzoda noted that “introduction of term ‘legal entity’ allows organizations and enterprises irrespective of forms of property to make applications, requests and complaints to all bodies of power.”

Besides, applications to the authorities through media and phone have been given an official status that means that the authorities should respond to them in time set by law, she added.

Speaking at the session, Deputy Prosecutor-General, Vali Vahhobov, noted that the number of applications and complaints made by citizens to the authorities has increased from year to year.

Majlisi Namoyandagon Speaker Shukurjon Zuhurov noted that “senior representatives of local authorities, police, prosecutor’s offices, courts, and members of local councils and parliament are the main objects for applications and complaints from citizens.”
