On the same day, he visited the Interior Ministry’s office for GBAO and special police unit (OMON).  The minister ordered them to intensify work on combating crime, maintaining pubic order, according to the Interior Ministry’s website.

The working visit of the interior minister to the Gorno Badakhshan Autonomous Region is going on.

We will recall that President Emomali Rahmon will pay a working visit to the Gorno Badakhshan Autonomous Region from June 25-28 to participate in celebrations dedicated to the 19th anniversary of National Unity Day that will take place in Khorog, the capital of Gorno Badakhshan on June 27.

While in Gorno Badakhshan, Rahmon will inaugurate a number of social and economic facilities in the province.  He is also scheduled to visit areas affected by last year’s earthquake.

Meanwhile, an official source at one of Tajikistan’s power-wielding structures says additional forces have been sent to Gorno Badakhshan ahead of Rahmon’s visit for maintaining public order and security in the region.
