DUSHANBE, August 11, 2016, Asia-Plus – Tajik judoka Komronshoh Ustopiriyon, participating in -90kg category, has left Rio Olympics after losing to known Georgian judoka Varlam Liparteliani, according to Tajikistan’s National Olympic Committee.

Komronshoh Ustopiriyon (born January 7, 1993) won the Grand Prix in Astana in 2014 U66kg.  It was one of his highlights among other international world cup medals. He won bronze at Asian Championships in 2015 and silver at the Grand Prix in Tashkent in 2015.

Varlam Liparteliani (born February 27, 1989) is a Georgian judoka.  He competed at the 2012 Summer Olympics in the -90 kg event and lost in the second round to Mark Anthony.  At the European Judo Championships, Liparteliani won gold in 2012, 2014 and 2016, silver in 2009 European Judo Championships, 2010 European Judo Championships, 2013 European Judo Championships and 2015 European Judo Championships, and bronze in 2011 European Judo Championships. He is the captain of the Georgia Judo National Team and the Georgia Olympic Team.

Meanwhile, five Tajik athletes will continue competing at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games:  hummer thrower Dilshod Nazarov; judoka Muhammadmurod Abdurahmonov (+100kg); swimmer (men’s free-style 50 m) Olim Qurobonov; swimmer (women’s free-style 50 m) Anastasia Tyurina; female runner Cristina (a 200-meter dash).
