The adverse business environment of Tajikistan does not attract investors, say analysts from the Asian development Bank.

"For this reason, in the period from 2000 to 2013 the country had the lowest share of private investment in total investment volume – 26%, in other countries this proportion varies from 75% to 87%," said in the country diagnostic study ADB “Tajikistan: promotion of diversification of export and growth”.

It is noted that public investment in the Republic is largely dominate over private. "In the period between 2000 and 2013 public investment averaged 17.7% of GDP. This reflects spending on construction of roads and power lines, financed by loans of the People’s Republic of China" – stress the experts of the Bank.

They note that private investment from 2005 to 2013 averaged 6.3% of GDP.

"Private investments remain low that leads to negative consequences for the productive capacity and sustainability of economic growth," – concluded the analysts of ADB.
