Two streets in Dushanbe are expected to be closed for traffic almost for a year.

Dehlavi Street and First Passage of Tursunzoda Street will be closed for traffic until September 30, 2017, an official source at the Dushanbe mayor’s office told Asia-Plus in an interview.

“By mayor’s decree these streets will be rehabilitated,” the source said.

Recall that a three-route flyover will be built in Dushanbe’s 82nd neighborhood.  China Xinjiang Beixin Construction & Engineering (Group) Co. Ltd. has won a tender construction of the flyover.

The estimated budget for construction of this flyover is nearly 25.5 million U.S. dollars.  Construction of the flyover is part of the Dushanbe-Uzbekistan Border Road Improvement Project.

Tajikistan and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) in September 2014 signed a loan agreement on the Dushanbe-Uzbekistan Border Road Improvement Project, which provides for rehabilitation of a 4.6-kilometer section of the road within the urban area (from the Avicenna Monument to the Western Gate of Dushanbe).

The road consists of 5 sections. The upgrade of Sections 2 to 5 (from Western Gate of Dushanbe to the Tajik – Uzbek border) of approximately 57 km in length was financed by ADB grant.  Section 1 of approximately 4.6 km in length is located within the urban area (between the Avicenna Monument and the Western Gate of Dushanbe) and includes 82nd roundabout and Avicenna roundabout.

According to the Tajik president’s official website, the three-route flyover will be constructed in two years.  The project also provides for construction of four underpasses and a 125-meter bridge.
