Tajik and Turkmen aviation authorities are expected to discuss reopen of direct air communication between Dushanbe and Ashgabat here next week.
Turkmenistan Airlines’ plane with an official delegation of Turkmenistan on board is expected to land at the Dushanbe airport on June 12.
This test flight will be the first flight between Ashgabat and Dushanbe over the past twenty-four years. There had been no direct civilian flights between the two capitals since 1993.
The Turkmen delegation members will include representatives of the Turkmen civil aviation authorities, Turkmenistan Airlines, the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan and Turkmen tour operators, according to the Tajik MFA information department.
An official source at the Tajik Ministry of Transport says the Turkmen delegation will discuss with Tajik officials the possibility of resuming direct air communications between the capitals of the two countries.
Meanwhile, Tajikistan’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) says Turkmen entrepreneurs will meet with their Tajik colleagues to discuss ways of further expansion of bilateral trade and economic cooperation between Turkmenistan and Tajikistan.
