In a report released at a news conference in Khujand, the capital of the Sughd province, the head of the Sughd power supply network, Toura Atamov, revealed on August 7 that the province’s electricity debts have reached 353.9 million somoni.

According to him, the most incorrigible nonpayers are residential customers (135.6 million somoni and water management enterprises (76/5 million somoni).

“As of July 1, 2018, electricity debts of local industrial enterprises amount to 234 million somoni, non-industrial enterprises – 33.1 million somoni, federally funded institutions – 22 million somoni, and agricultural enterprises – 39.7 million somoni,” said Atamov.  

He further noted that the province’s daily requirements in electricity were 17.786 million kWh.  50 percent of this amount is used by pump stations, 20 percent by industrial enterprises and 30 percent by residential customers.  

“Besides, we supply up to 415,000 kWh of electricity to neighboring Kyrgyzstan per day.  Instead, we receive 419,000 kWh of electricity for residential customers of the city of Isfara,” Atamov added.
