The 7th session of the EU-Tajikistan Parliamentary Cooperation Committee is taking place in Brussels today.

Mr. Sharif Rahimzoda, the head of the Majlisi Namoyandagon (Tajikistan’s lower house of parliament) Committee on Economics and Finance, leads a delegation of seven members from the Majlisi Oli (Tajikistan parliament) to attend the session.

According to the Majlisi Namoyandagon press center, the session participants will discuss issues related to cooperation between Tajikistan and the European Union and priority goals of Tajikistan, including attainment of energy independence, provision of foods security and development of communication routes.      

They will also exchange views on a number of international and regional issues being of mutual interest such as fight against terrorism, drug trafficking, extremism and corruption, the current situation in Afghanistan, and border control.  

While in Brussels, Tajik MPs  will also meet with their Belgian counterparts within the framework of Tajikistan/Belgium Parliamentary Friendship Group to discuss state and prospects of further expansion of inter-parliamentary cooperation between the countries, the source said.
