The Government of Tajikistan has endorsed the amount of academic grants for students, post-graduate students and doctoral candidates.  

The government decree, which was released on May 31 this year, in particular, notes that the amount of grants is determined by the government and is changed following president’s decree on increasing them.  

 

Grants for students of secondary vocational and technical schools are determined as follows:

–           Students getting ‘excellent’ marks will receive grants at the rate of 150.00 somoni per month;

–           Students getting ‘excellent’ and ‘good’ marks will receive grants at the rate of 105.00 somoni per month;   

–           Students getting ‘excellent’ and ‘good’ marks ad having not more than 20 percent of ‘satisfactory’ marks will receive grants at the rate of 40.00 somoni per month.    

 

Grants for students of higher educational institutions are determined as follows:

–           Students getting ‘excellent’ marks will receive grants at the rate of 208.00 somoni per month;

–           Students getting ‘excellent’ and ‘good’ marks will receive grants at the rate of 150.00 somoni per month;   

–           Students getting ‘excellent’ and ‘good’ marks ad having not more than 20 percent of ‘satisfactory’ marks will receive grants at the rate of 56.00 somoni per month.    

 

Grants for master students of higher educational institutions and research facilities are determined as follows:

–           Master students getting ‘excellent’ marks will receive grants at the rate of 250.00 somoni per month;

–           Students getting ‘excellent’ and ‘good’ marks will receive grants at the rate of 200.00 somoni per month.    

 

Post-graduate students will receive grants at the rate of 490.00 somoni per month. 

Orphaned student and students with disabilities will receive academic grants regardless of educational outcomes.  

For comparison, the minimum monthly wage in Tajikistan is set at 400.00 somoni, and an average amount of pension in the country is 310.00 somoni.
