Tajik, Uzbek presidents meet in Dushanbe to discuss cooperation

On Thursday June 10, Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev arrived in Dushanbe on an official visit.  At the Dushanbe international airport, he was met by Tajik President Emomali Rahmon.

On the same, day, Rahmon and Mirziyoyev held a tête-à-tête meeting and discussed in detail the entire spectrum of Tajik-Uzbek relations, according to the Tajik president’s official website.

Emomali Rahmon noted that Uzbekistan is strategic partner and reliable neighbor of Tajikistan.  He especially noted the coordination and close interaction between the two countries on issues related to providing regional security.  

Shavkat Mirziyoyev, for his part, expressed gratitude to the Tajik leader for the invitation and a warm welcome and noted that relations between Uzbekistan and Tajikistan had reached an unprecedentedly high level. 

It was also noted during the meeting that the number of Tajik-Uzbek joint ventures had increased eight times and currently, a total of more than 200 Tajik-Uzbek joint ventures are operating in both countries.
