On September 27th, 2021, H.E. Mr. MIYASHITA Takayuki, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to the Republic of Tajikistan, together with Mr. Khurshed HABIBZODA (Chief Medical Officer of Infection Hospital in Dushanbe City) attended the handover ceremony of successful completion of The project for Improvement of Medical Equipment of Infection Hospital in Dushanbe City. The project was realized under the framework of Japan’s “Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP)”. For equipping the hospital, the grant of USD 89,820 was provided to Infection Hospital in Dushanbe City. With the successful project completion, the users of the hospital have an opportunity to receive improved medical services.

Prior to the project implementation, the hospital faced difficulties due to a lack of medical equipment. The existing equipment has been used for a long time and needs to be replaced. Therefore, this project can bring a great benefit to patients and staff of the hospital.

During the ceremony, Mr. MIYASHITA made the following remarks, “It is my great pleasure to handover a variety of brand-new inspection equipment to this Infection Hospital. These high-quality equipment in front of us will contribute to accurate diagnoses of the doctors and to appropriate treatments for the patients.During the recent Pandemic, we have learned how difficult to cope with, and overcome infectious diseases. I hope these new equipment will contribute to a healthy and long life of the people in this region.”.

“Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Project” (GGP) is a scheme within Japan’s Official Development Assistance. GGP in particular implements grassrootslevel projects in various sectors throughout the Republic of Tajikistan. Recipients of GGP grants include local governments, educational and medical institutions, and NGOs. As of today, GGP has supported 434 projects in the Republic of Tajikistan, for which US$ $35.5 million has been allocated since 1996.
