On July 17, President Emomali Rahmon, who is also Chairman of the People's Democratic Party of Tajikistan (PDPT), delivered a speech at the plenary session of the party's Central Executive Committee in Dushanbe.
The Tajik president’s official website says the session focused on expanding party activities in preparation for the 35th anniversary of Tajikistan’s independence.
Rahmon reportedly highlighted that 2025 is a politically significant year for the country, marking important milestones in its democratic development.
He emphasized the successful political campaign earlier this year, including elections for the lower chamber of parliament and local assemblies, noting that the high level of participation and engagement showcased the growth of political culture and patriotism in Tajikistan.
Rahmon further underscored the importance of promoting peace, national unity, and patriotic values, particularly among the youth. He stressed that the PDPT plays a crucial role in the socio-economic development of Tajikistan and in the implementation of state strategies aimed at improving the lives of citizens.
The president also addressed global challenges, such as political conflicts, arms proliferation, and climate change, urging a collective responsibility in addressing these issues.
Currently, the PDPT reportedly operates in 7,336 state institutions, factories, and organizations, facilitating its constructive programs. The session approved an updated version of the party's regulations and outlined tasks for the future, with a focus on enhancing national self-awareness and political education.
Party structures were instructed to continue their work in promoting patriotism, national pride, and legal education, ensuring that all citizens understand the importance of protecting the country's independence and sovereignty.
In closing, Rahmon called for stronger collaboration with local authorities and national institutions to boost the party's efforts in promoting patriotism and securing the nation's future.
He emphasized that, in a free and independent Tajikistan, the PDPT must work together to strengthen political stability, fight corruption, and ensure sustainable national development.
The PDPT is the only political party in Tajikistan that has its offices in Dushanbe and in a number of cities and districts of the country.
The party now has its offices in eighteen cities and districts across the country. In some districts, the party rents buildings for its district organizations.
The PDPT organizing committee was established in 1993, and the party itself was established on December 10, 1994. Until April 1998, it was called the People's Party of Tajikistan.
The party stands for a secular state and society (secularism).
