Tajikistan’s agricultural output for the first half of 2025 has reached a significant milestone, totaling approximately 24 billion somonis, marking a 9.7% increase compared to the same period last year.  The most notable growth was seen in the production of melons, fruits, and grapes.

These results were announced during a meeting of the Agricultural Advisory Council, led by the Minister of Agriculture, Qurbon Hakimzoda.  One of the key topics discussed was the performance of the country’s agricultural sector in the first half of 2025.

According to data of the Ministry of Agriculture (MoA), the crop production sector saw the highest growth, reaching around 15.9 billion somonis, a 9% increase.  The livestock sector also experienced substantial growth, with an 11.2% rise, bringing its value to approximately 8 billion somonis compared to the first half of 2024.  A particular emphasis was placed on the increase in melon, fruit, and grape production.

Top 5 Agricultural Products with the Greatest Growth:

  • Melons: Production of melons reached a record increase of 43.1%, adding 177,916 tons compared to the first half of 2024. This remarkable achievement highlights the dynamic development of melon farming in Tajikistan.
  • Fruits: Fruit production saw a significant rise of 32.4%, or about 73,000 tons. This growth is attributed to the expansion of areas for fruit trees and improved agricultural techniques.
  • Grapes: Grape production rose by 38.2%, adding over 1,000 tons. The growth of viticulture in Tajikistan is supported by better cultivation technologies and increased vineyard areas.
  • Potatoes: Potato production increased slightly by 0.3%, or 819 tons. While modest, this growth shows continued demand for potatoes in the local market, which drives further development in the sector.
  • Animal feed: Production of animal feed grew by 9.7%, or 44,000 tons, reflecting the growing demand for feed driven by the expansion of livestock farming.

These developments underline the continued progress of Tajikistan’s agricultural sector, with melons, grapes, and fruits leading the charge in production growth.
