Uzbek media reports say President Shavkat Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan has called for the establishment of a Global Justice Fund to tackle poverty and reduce inequality during his speech at the World Summit in Doha. In his address, Mirziyoyev emphasized his country's commitment to international initiatives aimed at sustainable development, while also highlighting key social reforms currently underway in Uzbekistan.

According to the Uzbek president, the nation has made significant strides in poverty reduction, with the poverty rate dropping from 35 percent to just 6.6 percent in recent years. Mirziyoyev's remarks came as part of his broader vision to contribute to global efforts in improving living standards and fostering equality.

In addition to the Global Justice Fund, Mirziyoyev proposed a series of measures designed to address emerging global challenges. One of the key suggestions was the creation of a Global Initiative on Social Responsibility and Decent Work, aimed at introducing modern mechanisms to tackle employment issues. He underscored the urgency of this initiative, noting the rapid advancement of technology and artificial intelligence, which have led to the displacement of millions of jobs worldwide. Mirziyoyev called for stronger social partnerships between governments, businesses, and societies to mitigate the impact of these disruptions.

Furthermore, the president advocated for the organization of an International Forum on the Social and Legal Protection of Migrants and Their Families, to be held in Tashkent. The forum would be held in collaboration with the International Labor Organization and the International Organization for Migration, focusing on migrant rights and protection.

Mirziyoyev also placed a strong emphasis on education as a critical tool for addressing social issues. Citing expert estimates, he pointed out that global economic losses due to illiteracy amount to a staggering $1.4 trillion annually. He stressed the importance of investing in education to help alleviate social and economic challenges.

Addressing the growing impact of climate change, particularly on farmers and vulnerable communities, Mirziyoyev announced plans for a new model of socio-economic development in the Aral Sea region. This area, designated by the United Nations as a zone of environmental innovation and technology, will serve as a testbed for sustainable development practices. Uzbekistan, he said, is ready to share its experience and solutions with the international community.

In closing, Mirziyoyev expressed confidence that the decisions made at the summit would inspire hope and contribute to global stability and prosperity. He reaffirmed Uzbekistan's full support for the Doha Political Declaration, stressing the nation's commitment to implementing its principles to help achieve the sustainable development goals.

"Today, we fully support the Doha political declaration being adopted. This historic declaration will undoubtedly strengthen our collective efforts toward sustainability and long-term global stability," Mirziyoyev concluded.
