Inspired by childhood dreams and American pop culture, Nurullo Saifulloyev from Khujand is successfully building a creative career in one of the most competitive cities in the world. Today, he works on photo, video, and web design projects for international brands, blending creativity with entrepreneurship.

Nurullo’s journey into the visual arts began at the age of 19, but his determination to study and live in the U.S. crystallized after joining the educational program TajRupt.

“America is more than the land of opportunity—it’s a place where ideas can become reality. I made it my goal to study in the U.S., develop my visual thinking, and create meaningful work,” he shares.

Education and professional growth

Nurullo chose Graphic Design & Advertising with a focus on UX/UI at the City University of New York, a natural path given his passion for visual storytelling. The program provided not only academic knowledge but also the confidence to compete at an international level.

“This experience helped me develop my style, manage creative processes, and bridge the gap between art and business,” he says.

Launching a career in New York

His career took off when clients began returning not just for the quality of his visuals but for his original ideas. That was the moment Nurullo decided to build his own brand.

A key element of his competitive edge is his cultural background:

“Growing up in Central Asia shaped my visual identity. I merge Eastern sensitivity with Western energy, giving my work a distinctive look,” he explains.

His portfolio includes ad campaigns for Turo (with over 2 million views), shoots with a Harlem Globetrotters player at Madison Square Garden, and a project with Netflix featuring Indian comedian Vir Das.

Strategy, structure, and self-discipline

In New York, talent alone isn’t enough. Nurullo emphasizes the importance of resilience, strategic thinking, and discipline.

“To avoid burnout, I structure my days carefully, set clear goals, and maintain a balance between work and personal life,” he notes.

A personal brand that builds trust

To Nurullo, building a personal brand isn’t just about visibility—it’s about creating trust and inspiring others. His approach is rooted in authenticity: he openly shares behind-the-scenes content, creative processes, and team dynamics.

Each project, he says, is like a short film: “I craft a visual language that conveys emotion. For me, design isn’t just about selling a product—it’s about telling a story and inspiring people.”

Looking ahead, Nurullo plans to expand his creative work, collaborate with global brands, and support creative initiatives in Central Asia by building professional infrastructure and connecting young talent with international projects.

“My dream is for Tajikistan to be known not just for its mountains, but for powerful visual stories and world-class creators,” he says.

Advice for aspiring creatives:

·         Be yourself. Find your unique style instead of copying others.

·         Learn to present yourself—your portfolio and personal image are also art.

·         Don’t wait for the perfect moment. Start now and the world will meet your energy.

·         Don’t try to do everything alone. Build a team where everyone shines in their role.

·         Believe in yourself. What you dream of can become your reality—just keep going.
