DUSHANBE, September 30, 2013, Asia-Plus – On Monday September 30, the Supreme Court of Tajikistan sentenced three persons, who are charged with robbing the house of Deputy Prime Minister Murodali Alimardon in the Hisor district in June 2005, to long jail terms.
Umed Nasriddinov, Zayniddin Samadov and Dilshod Mirzoyev were sentenced between 22 and 24 years in prison. The sentence followed their conviction on charges of murder (Article 104 of Tajikistan’s Penal Code), abduction of persons (Article 130), illegal possession of weapons (Article 195), robbery (Article 249), and property embezzlement (Article 254).
Umed Nasrididnov reportedly got the jail term of twenty-two years, while Zayniddin Samadov and Dilshod Mirzoyev were sentenced to 24 years in prison each.
Taking into account the defendants’ youth, the judge at the Supreme Court, Mirzo Karimov, who presided over the trail, ruled to cut the sentences by two years in accordance with a Tajik amnesty that was declared last year.
We will recall that three armed persons in camouflage reportedly broke into the house of Murodali Alimardon in June 2005 (at that time Alimardon was head of Tajikistan’s central bank), killing one guard and stealing cash and jewelry.
The assailants took away the second guard who was protecting the house; a few hours later he was found tied in the stolen car.
Murodali Alimardon was not at home when the robbery occurred.
According the Ministry of Interior (MoI), the assailants seized 7,000.00 U.S. dollars and 500.00 somoni as well as jewelry.
Umed Nasrididnov, Zayniddin Samadov and Dilshod Mirzoyev were arrested on suspicion of committing that robbery.
One of guards of Murodali Alimardon reportedly served eight months in prison in 2005 over this case.
