DUSHANBE, March 10, 2015, Asia-Plus — A resident of the Yovon district (Khatlon province) has been detained with large amount of hashish in the northern city of Isfara (Sughd province).

An operation by officers from the Drug Control Agency (DCA)’s office in Isfara led to the arrest of the Yovon resident on suspicion of involvement in drug pushing, the DCA press center reports.

A package of narcotic drug that tested positive to hashish weighing more than three kilograms was confiscated from him.          

Criminal proceedings have been instituted against alleged drug peddler under the provisions of Article 200 (3) of Tajikistan’s Penal Code – large-scale drug trafficking; an investigation is under way.

Meanwhile, the Dushanbe resident Rustam Olimov, 32, was arrested on suspicion of drug pushing on March 8.  27 ecstasy tablets were confiscated from him.

On the same day, three residents of the Jirgatol district (Rasht Valley) – Mahmadrasoul Homidov, 46, Mansour Ghafourov, 38, and Zulfiqahor Ayubov, 33 – were arrested on suspicion of storing a large amount of heroin.  4.4 kilograms of heroin were confiscated from them, the source said.
