68 investment projects being implemented in Tajikistan

DUSHANBE, January 17, 2018, Asia-Plus —  Tajikistan’s investment projects portfolio is currently being estimated at 24.9 billion somoni (equivalent to 2.8 billion U.S. dollars), according to the State Committee on Investments and State-owned Property Management (GosKomInvest).

An official source at GosKomInvest says sixty-eight investment projects are currently being implemented in the country.

According to him, 14 investment projects have been financed by loans, 25 investment projects have been financed by grants and 29 investment projects have been supported by mixed financing.

“To-date, 1.492 billion USD has been drawn, which is 52.9 percent of the portfolio’s volume,” said the source.  “Last year alone, 293.5 million USD has been drawn.”     

During the period from 2014 to 2017, Tajikistan reportedly signed nine investment agreements and one concession agreement.  Under these agreements 15 new production enterprises have been established in the country.  These enterprises have created 7,000 new jobs.

Due to these agreements, 1.8 billion worth of foreign direct investments have been attracted to enhance the country’s economy, the source added.
