Over the first quarter of this year, the national budget has allocated 344 million somoni (TJS) for enhancement of the health sector, which is only 78.1 percent of a projected volume, according to the Ministry of Finance (MoF).
In the first quarter of this year, the national budget has reportedly earmarked 440.7 million somoni for the health sector.
Meanwhile, only 46.6 million somoni have been provided over the report period for financing of hospitals, 36.2 percent less than it was originally planned (73.1 million somoni) and only 7.1 million somoni have been provided for financing of health centers (polyclinics), 47.7 percent less than it was planned (13.5 million somoni), source at a MoF told Asia-Plus in an interview.
Only 9.9 million somoni have been allocated for protection of public health (blood centers, preventive disinfection centers, vaccination centers, sanitary-epidemiological centers and so forth), which is nearly 46 less than it was originally planned (18.2 million somoni).
The other spheres of the health sector (management, control, researches and others) have received over the same three-month period 13.9 million somoni instead of the originally planned 28.2 million somoni (50.7 percent decrease)
Recall, the national budget for 2020 that was endorsed in November last year projected expenditure of more than 1.841 billion somoni in the health sector, which is 6.9 percent of the budget expenditures.
