The body of young woman was found at an altitude of 2,000 meters in the mountains not far from the village of Zarteg, which is subordinate to the city of Levakant in the southern Khatlon province, according to the Emergencies Committee under the Government of Tajikistan.

She was reportedly identified as a 23-year-old resident of Jomi district in Khatlon province, a source within the Emergencies Committee said.

The day before, the body of her 16-year-old sister was reportedly found in the same area at the altitude of 1,500 meters, the source added.

The cause of death of the siblings is under investigation.  

The law enforcement authorities are considering all versions — murder, accident or suicide.
