The Iranian and Tajik ministers of health have discussed bilateral cooperation in the health sector to manufacture medicines.

Iran’s state-run news agency IRNA reports that Iranian Health Minister Bahram Einollahi met with Tajik Minister of Health and Social Protection of the Population Jamoliddin Abdullozoda in Tehran on March 5  on the sidelines of the first international conference on family health.

During the meeting, Einollahi reportedly said a new chapter has opened in cooperation with Tajikistan, stressing the importance of forming a joint working group for pursuing bilateral ties in the area of health and other fields.

Exchanging students and professors, holding scientific conferences, and working on research projects will help promote cooperation, he underlined.

He also said the Islamic Republic is ready to export medical equipment to Tajikistan, jointly manufacture medicine, and exchange medical experiences with the Persian-speaking country.

Tajik health minister, for his part, reportedly appreciated Iran’s effort to hold such an international medical conference.

Jamoliddin Abdullozoda called Iran’s medical achievements great and termed the Islamic Republic's medical industry as successful.

He also called for cooperation to manufacture joint pharmaceutical products with Iran, according to IRNA.

Tehran hosted the 1st international conference on family health with the participation of health ministers from 20 countries on March 5-6.  Iran’s Press TV says the conference highlighted strategies to turn Primary Health Care into Universal Health Coverage.
