In the northern city of Isfara, two officers of the military registration and enlistment office demanded 40,000 somonis for issuing fake certificates about unfitness for military service, says the press center of the Agency for State Financial Control and Combating Corruption under the President of Tajikistan.

According to the agency, the Assistant Head of the Reserve Officer Records Department at the Vorukh Military Registration and Enlistment Office Yu. Davronov and the Inspector at the Military Office of the Kulkan Jamoat Sh. Kenjayev demanded the sum from the relatives of M.M. to issue a fake certificate about unfitness for military service, even though they had no authority to do so.

From May to July of this year, the perpetrators colluded and received money twice from M.M.'s relatives before being apprehended with evidence at the scene of the crime.

Criminal proceedings have been instituted Davronov and Kenjayev under the provisions of Article 247 (4) of Tajikistan’s Penal Code – fraud.  The investigation has been completed and the case moved to a court for further review.

Under the specified article, the accused could face penalties ranging from a fine of 1,460 to 2,190 calculating indicators (1 CI equals to 72.00 somonis) or imprisonment for 8 to 12 years with confiscation of property.
