DUSHANBE, April 1, 2010, Asia-Plus — The fourth session of the council of the CIS finance ministers has opened in Moscow today.
According to the CIS Executive Committee, the session is discussing mainly two issues: general situation of national economies of the CIS member nations; and implementation of the plan of joint efforts to overcome the global financial and economic crisis designed for 2009-2010.
The plan of joint efforts was considered and endorsed at the session of the council of CIS heads of government that took place in Yalta, Ukraine last November.
The CIS Executive Committee says that over the first month of this year, economic growth has been reported practically in all member nations of the CIS. In Azerbaijan, for instance, gross domestic product (GDP) rose 9.2 percent, in Tajikistan – 4.2 percent, Armenia – 2.4 percent, Belarus – 1.3 percent.
