DUSHANBE, March 6, 2010, Asia-Plus — President Emomali Rahmon will congratulate Tajik women on occasion of the Day of the Mother, which is marked in Tajikistan on March 8.
We will recall that by president’s decree of March 6, 2009 women’s holiday is now known in Tajikistan as the Day of the Mother.
Congratulating Tajik women on the occasion of International Women’s Day, President Emomali Rahmon last year said that International Women”s Day has only been celebrated on March 8 for about 100 years, while ancient Aryans — the ancestors of the Tajiks — had special days both for mothers, specifically, and for women in general. President Rahmon proposed to mark March 8 as the Day of the Mother.
